PREPARATION & APPLICATION

  • 1

Pinpoint origin of leak following standard leak detection procedures. Reduce line pressure to a maximum of 60 psi (4 bar).

  • 2

Clean and roughen using a wire brush and supplied emery cloth to remove excess rust, dirt or loose scale. Remove any oils, greases, soaps or foreign materials from pipe surface by utilizing the included solvent cleaning wipe.

  • 3

Unroll first 6" (15cm) from roll of Pressure Sealing Rubber Tape and remove backings. Set aside. Remove Syntho-Steel Putty from packaging and knead until uniform in color. Maximum mixing time: 2 minutes. Minimum mixing temp: 50°F (10°C)

  • 4a

CRACK / PINHOLE: Place 1/4"(6mm) ball of Syntho-Steel Putty above crack/pinhole. Wrap Pressure Sealing Rubber Tape in overlapping manner working toward putty, pushing it downward into the crack/pinhole, stretching the tape to its maximum tension while wrapping DIRECTLY over the putty. This will force the putty firmly into place. DO NOT CHASE THE LEAK, as each wrap provides additional pressure to halt the leak. While applying, stretch the tape to its maximum tension. Use entire roll.

JOINT: Mold Trident Seal Putty into an 1/8"-1/4" (3mm-6mm) rope and place around entire circumference of the joint, pressing firmly into place. Wrap tape in overlapping manner working toward putty, pushing it downward into the joint. Stretching the tape to its maximum tension while wrapping DIRECTLY over the putty will force the putty firmly into place. DO NOT CHASE THE LEAK, as each wrap provides additional pressure. Use entire roll.

  • 5

STOP! After applying the Pressure Sealing Tape, test repair by following your leak detection procedures to ensure the leakage is sealed and contained.

  • 6

Water is needed to activate the Syntho-Glass® Outer Wrap. Put on supplied gloves, open foil package and submerge in water for 10 seconds. Syntho-Glass Outer Wrap must be wrapped 2" (5cm) on either side of the Pressure Sealing Rubber Tape to cover the entire repair site. NOTE: Occasionally twisting the Syntho-Glass Outer Wrap as it is applied helps it conform tightly to the pipe surface. Wrap Syntho-Glass Outer Wrap over the entire repair area, then squeeze and mold firmly in the direction of the wrap until tacky. (approx. 5 min.)

  • 7

Apply two layers of compression film over the entire composite repair. Perforate the two layers of composite film to allow the gas generated by the curing process to escape. Remove compression film after 10 minutes.
