NRI's Marine Emergency Repair Kit helps save crab season on Discovery's Deadliest Catch
Wizard's Crab Season from the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch Saved by NRI Marine Emergency Repair Kit. With a ruptured hydraulic line it seemed like the only option left for Captain Keith Colburn of the Wizard was to return to port to fix the line. Returning to port, along with the repair, could and would have taken days, ruining any chance of a successful crab season.

Before the fleet set sail this season, the vessels were trained and provided Marine Emergency Repair Kit's manufactured by NRI . When The Wizard added the kit to their manifest, little did they know that it would be key to their season. Running out of options, Captain Keith remembered about the repair kit and used it to seal the hydraulic leak. The seal held for the entire season and the Wizard was able to have one of its most successful crab seasons to date.

Several years ago Captain Jim Stone, of The Retriever stated that NRI products "Saved an entire Alaskan King Crab fishing season." Later, w hen Captain Stone attended Olympic College, Readiness Response Institute for continuing Damage Control Training , he learned that they too utilized NRI's products. When it became evident that the commercial and private fishing industry needed additional damage control options, NRI introduced these products to the public, and has since supplied the Readiness Response Institute with its products for training purposes.

NRI is the sole source manufacturer of EWARP, a similar product, which is required Damage Control Locker Inventory for the US Coast Guard and US Navy vessels.
